Rubrics in Our Classroom
I hope that these rubrics help you understand how your child is graded in the classroom. The rubrics align with the 1-4 standards on the report card. These are posters in our room in which students refer to frequently.
Writing
Students have learned that any type of writing (narrative, opinion, or informative) must have a beginning, middle, and end. We have worked on topics sentences, details, and conclusions or "final thoughts." As always, students should also include capital letters, periods, spacing, and neatness to their work.

I came up with this rubric to set expectations for independent work times where I am not always available to help students. During center time, for example, I meet with reading groups and students are expected to do their center work independently and correctly, to the best of their ability.

Story Retell
The retell rubric focuses on how well students can comprehend and summarize a story, either read aloud to them or read by themselves. In a full summary, I am looking for students to know the characters, setting, beginning, middle, and end. Also, students should know the problem and a solution to a story if there is one. This is done independently.
